Otunbayeva wins Kyrgyzstan presidency
Thursday, July 8th, 2010Kyrgyz interim president Roza Otunbayeva was officially sworn in on July 3, 2010. However, Otunbayeva will not be allowed to run in the 2011 presidential election and her term will end on December 31, 2011.
She became the first woman to win presidency in Central Asia, where after the collapse of the Soviet Union only male politicians ruled the former Soviet republics. The inauguration ceremony took place in the National Philharmonics in Bishkek.
